Results from Arizona Gives Day

AZ_GD_FB_Cube_170x161It felt like election day, only we were working Facebook, the web, and email rather than the phone bank. And we weren’t looking for the most votes, just the most donations. We didn’t win, but we placed well and connected with a lot of people. We are excited to do it again next year.

On March 20th, The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum sponsored Arizona’s first-ever statewide day of giving. Presented by First Bank, the 24-hour online initiative encouraged Arizonans to recognize and financially support the efforts of various nonprofits from all over the state.  Large cash prizes were available for nonprofits in different categories who raised the most unique donations or the  most money in total.

In 24 hours, Arizonans gave nearly a million dollars to their favorite charity. Boys to Men AZ raised over $1000 from twenty-two different donors. We didn’t win any prizes but we placed very well. In the statewide rural category in a field of 159 non-profits we placed 13th in number of unique donations.

A big thank you to Brian Thomason , our VISTA member who spearheaded this new and unique initiative. And, of course, a big thank you to those who contributed. The money we raised will go directly to funding programs that support boys and families.
