Charles Matheus grew up perched on the side of a mountain in Jerome, Arizona. As a very young man, he pretended to be a Mid East peace envoy (really!) and has since felt inspired to create unlikely and meaningful conversations wherever he goes. Be careful about going out to coffee with this man; it might get real. Charles has a degree from Cornell University, but he hopes you won’t hold that against him. Charles has been a classroom teacher, a nonprofit manager, a backpacking guide and a professional organic gardener.
Charles started volunteering with Boys to Men Mentoring here in Prescott in 2010 and quickly became a stalwart supporter of the mission, the boys, and the mentors. In 2012, he came on board as the full-time Director and under his leadership the program has quadrupled in size and impact. Never content to leave well enough alone, Charles worked with men from around the country to start Boys to Men USA and was recently elected as National Chair. Charles brings passion, experience, and vision to everything he does.
